Founder, Atypical Ventures
Ruby Lu is founder of Atypical Ventures, a venture fund investing in early-stage companies in China.
Prior to founding Atypical, she co-founded eCarX in 2016. The company supplies an infotainment portal to auto manufacturers including Mercedes, Lotus, Volvo and Geely. eCarX commands a valuation over US$3 billion in the private market.
Previously, Ruby co-founded DCM China in 2003 and co-led the practice for over 13 years. While there, she sourced and led investments in many leading technology companies such as Kuaishou, which generated several billion in net gains and over 500x return in a single deal. She has generated 13 Unicorns, 8 IPOs and 5 M&As in her venture capitalist career.
Prior to being a venture capitalist, Ruby was a Vice President in Goldman Sachs technology investment banking group. She received an M.A. from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in 1996 and a B.A. with honors from the University of Maryland in 1994.
