Council (Honorary)——Dan Kiang

Mr. Dan Kiang has close to 25 years of investing experience, all of which are in Asia.  Currently, he is the Founder and Managing Partner of Aqua Lake Fund since 2023.  Dan was previously Senior Managing Director and Head of Asia Public Equity at Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan (OTPP), one of the largest sovereign funds in the world.  Since joining OTPP in 2014, he managed close to US$2 billion mainly in public equities but also in crossover private positions for OTPP across Asia.  He was also one of four Global Investment Committee members for OTPP's global public equity portfolio with $12bn of AUM.  From 2008 to 2014, Dan was Managing Director at Mount Kellett, a $7 billion multi-strategy hedge fund where he was a founding member and was responsible for its Greater China business. From 2006 to 2008 Dan was a Director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Asian Special Situations Group focused on both public and private investments in the region.  From 2002 to 2006, he was Vice President and COO of TVG Capital Partners (Later known as JP Morgan Direct Investment Group) in Hong Kong where he made private equity investments across China, Japan, and Southeast Asia and served on a number of Boards of TVG’s portfolio companies.  Dan started his career as an investment banking analyst with Merrill Lynch in New York.  


He has also been a guest lecturer (on the topics of Chinese economy and private equity) numerous for the University of Hong Kong, the City University of Hong Kong and HKUST business school and currently serves on the board of a number of private companies in Asia.


He received a Bachelor of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude in Economics with a Certificate in East Asian Studies from Princeton University.  Dan is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Shanghai Dialect.
