Professor Yuan is engaged in the analysis of complicated samples and has carried out systematic works on highly selective and sensitive detection of the target molecules in complicated samples. She has developed a series of highly sensitive analytical methods and has reduced the background signals and nonspecific adsorption in complicated samples. Fast and high-throughput methods for selective separation and enrichment of targets from complicated samples have also been developed. As the corresponding author, she has published many papers on journals including Science, and these papers were positively reported by Science, Nature Nanotechnology, Chemical Reviews, Chemical & Engineering News of American Chemical Society, National Forensic Science Technology Center of America, etc. The foundation chaired by Professor Yuan includes the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars,  the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars, the National Key Research and Development Program Youth Project, the Ten Thousand Talents Program for Young Talents, and the Foundation for the Author of National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation of P. R. China etc.
