Kai Yu is a professor at Computer Science and Engineering Department of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and the co-founder and Chief Scientist of AISpeech Ltd. He got his B.S. and M.S. from Tsinghua University and Ph.D. from Cambridge University. He is a senior member of IEEE, a member of the IEEE Speech and Language Processing Technical Committee. He serves as the director of the IP and Academic Affair Committee of the AI Industry Alliance of China, the associate director of the technical committee of the Alliance of Intelligent Speech Technology Industry of China and a vice director of the CCF Task Force on Speech, Dialogue and Auditory Processing. He has published over 170 peer-reviewer papers on speech and language processing. He was selected into the “Excellent Young Scientists Project” by NSFC China and the Programme for Professor of Special Appointment (Eastern Scholar) at Shanghai Institutions of Higher Learning. He won WuWenJun Science and Technology Progress Award by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and the "Bamboo Award" by CCF. He founded AISpeech to commercialize state-of-the-art speech and language processing technology. AISpeech has been selected into the “AI Key Players” list in the Equity Research Report of AI by Goldman Sachs in 2016 and one of the Cool Vendors for AI (East Asia) by Gartner in 2017.
