Professor, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Prof. Jianwei Sun obtained his BSc and MSc degrees from Nanjing University in 2001 and 2004, respectively. In 2008, he obtained a PhD degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Chicago. He carried out postdoctoral research in MIT in 2008-2010 before his independent career in the Department of Chemistry at HKUST, where he is currently a full professor. Prof. Sun’s research interest lies in synthetic organic chemistry, with an emphasis on asymmetric catalysis. He is interested in developing new strategies to address the challenges in organic synthesis. His work has been recognized by a number of honors, including membership of the Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences, Early Career Award (RGC), Asian Core Program Lectureship Award, and Thieme Chemistry Journal Award.
