Prof. Dr. Xiaoguang Lei obtained BS in chemistry from Peking University in 2001, and Ph.D. in organic synthesis from Boston University in 2006. Then he conducted postdoc work at Columbia University. In early 2009, he returned to China, and started his independent career as a Principal Investigator and Director of Chemistry Center at National Institute of Biological Sciences (NIBS) in Beijing. In early 2014, he received a tenured professorship from Peking University and moved to the College of Chemistry. Now he is a Full Professor of Chemical Biology and he is also a senior PI of the Peking-Tsinghua Center for Life Sciences. His major research areas are: chemical biology, natural product total synthesis and drug discovery. To date, he has published more than 80 research papers, including Cell, Nature, Science, and obtained 10 patent for new drug discovery. He has received many prestigious awards including: 2018 The David Ginsburg Memorial Lectureship Award, 2017 Tetrahedron Young Investigator Award, 2017 Swiss Chemical Society Distinguished Lectureship Award, 2015 Chemical Society of Japan Distinguished Lectureship Award, 2014 Roche Young Investigator Award, 2013 International Chemical Biology Society (ICBS) Young Chemical Biologist Award, 2013 Servier Young Investigator Award in Medicinal Chemistry, 2013 Thieme Chemistry Journal Award, and 2010 IUPAC Young Chemist Award etc. Since 2017 he has served as an editor for BMC.
